Yay October!

In years past, B-Movie Enema had always celebrated the month with some sort of spooky theme.  In 2016, it was vampires.  In 2017, we had slashers from the 80s.  2018 actually had a real theme title – Nights of Demons.  What’s this year’s theme?  Well…

Um…  It…

Hmmmm…

Zombie 3 (1988)

Back in January I covered Lucio Fulci’s masterpiece in undead horror – Zombie.  It’s fitting that I now look at its sequel, Zombie 3.

Dead & Buried (1981)

Let’s talk about a classy movie!

Dead & Buried is a 1981 flick that takes a different approach to zombies.  It is written by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett who is best known for writing the classic sci-fi/horror flick Alien.  That’s a fact that the poster really wants to sell this movie on – “The creators of ALIEN… bring a new terror to Earth.”

Dan O’Bannon also made Return of the Living Dead which is pretty much a zombie movie hall of fame entry from the mid 80s.  It’s fair to even say that O’Bannon’s work on that movie, matched with the Godzilla movies, and Roger Corman, helped create my love of B-Movies and, thus, well… Continue reading “Dead & Buried (1981)” →

Zombie (1979)

I told you back in October that Demonia would not be the only time Lucio Fulci gets featured here on B-Movie Enema.

I mean, after all, that movie sucked, and he made so many other movies that were so much better.  Even his not so great movies were way better than Demonia.  Frankly, the only way to really make up for choosing that stinker is to cover the movie that he is probably best known for directing, 1979’s Zombie.

Demons (1985)

You know what?  It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a truly Italian horror flick for a B-Movie Enema.  In the early days of the blog, I covered a couple Italian flicks like The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave and The Eerie Midnight Horror Show.  I have seen a bunch of Italian (and other European) movies in my day, and I’m surprised it’s been since White Comanche in the summer of 2016 that I’ve returned to Europe’s boot.

Also, since this is October, it’s time for a new Halloween theme for B-Movie Enema!  This year, I’m going for some good old fashioned demon action with this year’s Nights of Demons month!  To kick off this theme, I am returning to Italy for the Lamberto Bava-directed, Dario Argento-produced Demons from 1985.  This won’t be the only time we’ll visit Italy this month either, so look out for that. Zombie Nightmare (1987)

Since returning from hiatus, I’ve written about a Canadian movie and a movie from 1987.  This week, I cover a 1987 Canadian movie.  Huh…  Funny how things work out.

Zombie Nightmare is one of those flicks that marries heavy metal and horror.  I’ve touched upon this before with Black Roses – which also happens to be a Canadian horror movie.  However, this one has a few very distinct reasons for why I wanted this on the blog.

First, this is a Mystery Science Theater 3000 alum.  It’s a pretty solid episode as well.  Second, our star, Jon Mikl Thor, had this and another movie with “Nightmare” in the title from 1987 that just simply need to be here on B-Movie Enema.  Finally, it was one of the final six movies to be looped on Bizarre TV before the Roku channel’s original owner, Ronda Baffes, passed away.  Bizarre TV was such a huge part of how I was able to get this far with the blog, I feel like I owe it some continued love. The Last Man on Earth (1964)

This week’s B-Movie Enema is going to take a look at 1964’s The Last Man on Earth starring the great Vincent Price.

Based on Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel I Am Legend, this film puts a new spin on the post-apocalyptic wasteland type of story by featuring a man who is trying to stay alive not against zombies or crazed bad guys (see any post-Romero zombie movie or Mad Max for reference), and not strictly mutants of that wasteland (see… Judge Dredd… I guess?  And not the good one either).  Instead, our hero is fighting off people who have mutated into vampires. Pot Zombies (2005)

Lloyd Kaufman and his Troma Entertainment arrive to B-Movie Enema.

Troma is not unknown for some pretty crazy movies like the Toxic Avenger series, Tromeo and Juliet, and Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD.  Not long after the turn of the century, Troma did a young filmmakers series.  One of the movies to come out of that series is today’s featured movie, Pot Zombies.  And by “One of the movies…” I mean the only movie to come out of this project.
