Prisoner of Paradise (1980)

Howdy Enemaniacs!  Welcome back to the third feature in this month’s Blue March theme – Prisoner of Paradise!

For this entry, we’re bringing back a couple returning items.  First, big daddy John Holmes is returning after taking a bow (among other things) in Dracula Sucks.  We also travel back into the wild blue yonder of Nazisploitation – and I bet you are all real excited about that.

But, let me just say, you people are sick.   You know how I know this?  I know my blog’s stats.  I know them well, I do.  If I look at the top viewed posts, all FIVE of the movies marked with the “nazisploitation” tag rank in the top 13 posts.  Then, on top of that, Dracula Sucks, the other released adult movie I’ve covered on this blog, also ranks in the top 10.  The most viewed post at the time of this writing?  The Lost Empire which has tits flopping all over the place in it. Dixie Ray Hollywood Star (1983)

Blue March continues with not only another adult film, but an adult film directed by Anthony Spinelli.  Spinelli was kind of known for his work in genres.  Hey, it’s not just a prono, it’s a sci-fi/drama that deals with relationships and kinks and sexual inadequacy.  This isn’t just a skin flick with a really hot redhead, it’s a film noir/crime drama type of movie too!

Dixie Ray Hollywood Star is the latter.  We have a hot, but enigmatic redhead movie star, Dixie Ray, played by Lisa Deleeuw.  She comes into contact (both figuratively and literally) with P.I. Nick Popodopolis, played by superstar adult actor John Leslie, who is caught up in a mystery after finding a dead woman on his floor.

Even better?  This movie has the one, the only, Cameron Mitchell! Continue reading “Dixie Ray Hollywood Star (1983)”

X-Ray (aka Hospital Massacre, 1982)

You know what I haven’t had in a while?  The sudden urge to kill myself out of utter desperation.

Er…  I mean a Cannon Films movie.  I…  Um.  That’s what’s I meant.  Uh…  Anyway, one thing that you can definitely say about the Cannon gurus Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus is that they sure think they know what people want.  In the example of X-Ray (aka Hospital Massacre), they assumed we all wanted a slasher film in a hospital with a hot babe.

Their assumptions were right, but we also kind of want some sort of story that makes sense.  Is that here in this movie?  No?  Yes?  Not really? Continue reading “X-Ray (aka Hospital Massacre, 1982)”

Dead & Buried (1981)

Let’s talk about a classy movie!

Dead & Buried is a 1981 flick that takes a different approach to zombies.  It is written by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett who is best known for writing the classic sci-fi/horror flick Alien.  That’s a fact that the poster really wants to sell this movie on – “The creators of ALIEN… bring a new terror to Earth.”

Dan O’Bannon also made Return of the Living Dead which is pretty much a zombie movie hall of fame entry from the mid 80s.  It’s fair to even say that O’Bannon’s work on that movie, matched with the Godzilla movies, and Roger Corman, helped create my love of B-Movies and, thus, well… Continue reading “Dead & Buried (1981)”

Angel III: The Final Chapter (1988)

Oh thank god this is “The Final Chapter”.

This has been a rough couple weeks, dear readers.  I wanted to take a look a the Angel series.  It’s the story of Molly Stewart who was orphaned by two parents who, at different times in her life, left her to pursue their own relationships with new partners.  Molly created the alter ego Angel who was a successful, and intelligent, hooker to pay her way through an expensive private school and take care of herself.  She became embroiled in a psycho killer’s rampage through the streets of Hollywood and befriends the investigating detective who helps her get back on the right path. Avenging Angel (1985)

Things are gonna be a little kooky this time around.

One year after the massive success of the original Angel movie, New World Pictures decided it’s time to make a sequel.  However, according to Rory Calhoun, they weren’t willing to pay Donna Wilkes the salary she desired, so she walked.  This opens the door for Betsy Russell to waltz in and sex up the joint.

Admittedly, it was Betsy Russell’s starring turn in Avenging Angel that I bought this entire collection for.  After seeing Cheerleader Camp and really digging her, and knowing a little about this series from all the time I spent in a video store for the first, oh, 23 years of my life, I slapped my 12 bucks down on the virtual counter over at Amazon and got this “box set”.   Continue reading “Avenging Angel (1985)”

Angel (1984)

Let’s take a trip back to earlier this year.  I watched the movie Cheerleader Camp which starred Betsy Russell who played our main girl who was dealing with lots and lots of societal pressure to be this perfect cheerleader and popular girl.  I took quite the shine to her in that movie.  When I went to the ol’ IMDb to remind myself what else she’d done, I saw a movie listed as Avenging Angel.  Which was a sequel to a movie I definitely remember being on cable TV a lot and just hanging out there in the Action section of every video store I’ve ever walked into – Angel.

Soon, I was down the rabbit hole and ordering “The Angel Collection” from Amazon. Continue reading “Angel (1984)”

The Lost Empire (1984)

Jim Wynorski returns to B-Movie Enema this week.  And, to be completely and totally fair with everyone, I’m a bit of a fan.  I don’t think it takes too much to understand why.  Sure, he’s worked with Roger Corman on some of Corman’s less memorable 80s fare, but not only will Wynorski bring the camp and the fun…

He also brings the babes.

That’s exactly what we have here for you this week.  The Lost Empire is a 1984 fantasy action movie with a lot of boobs and bullets and bo-blosions!  This is what Andy Sedaris could be if he had the opportunity to release movies in theaters instead of late night Cinemax.   Continue reading “The Lost Empire (1984)”
