Okay, so here we are in the third week of Full Moon Fever II: Torchlight Diaries and we’re done with the space babes for the month, but we’re not done with another reference I’ve been making all month long.

This week, I’m gonna take a look at Huntress: Spirit of the Night from 1995. This is about a family curse, some aristocratic family, and it appears to be about some mood. Now, that said, it’s still a mid 90s erotic thriller from Full Moon, so you can bet your ass that we’re gonna get a lot of sexy with that heaving mounds of mood. Oh yeah… That reference I said I would be making…

The film is directed by Mark Manos. Now, early on in his career he directed some episodes of Freddy’s Nightmares. In fact, he’s done a shitload of TV shows even as recently as the new MacGyver show and Interrogation. So that’s not for nuthin’. He did a handful of Full Moon’s horror movies, including their pseudo-superhero film Dark Angel: The Ascent, which I covered last fall. So he was a bit of Full Moon bullpen kind of guy.

Alright, Full Moon Fever II: Torchlight Diaries is off and running thanks to last week’s check in with the Beach Babes. This week, we keep to the out of this world hotties with Cybil Richards’ 1996 erotic sci-fi flick Femalien.

Now, I want to say that I always think Cybil Richards is one of David DeCoteau’s many, many nom de plumes, but it actually isn’t. I don’t know if I’m excited or sad about that. On one hand, I’m betting Femalien doesn’t have a shit ton of dance scenes as she traipses across the galaxy and meeting new people and dealing with back pain. On the other hand, I’m betting there’s no bad jokes and shit.

Now, was this made on a slim budget of 27-30,000 McDonald’s cheeseburgers like so many of DeCoteau’s films looked to be?

Well, holy hot damn… This is the 250th B-Movie Enema article!

So what do I do to celebrate? I kick off a second month of “Full Moon Fever”. I covered a bunch of Full Moon movies back in February of 2017. But then, over the course of the past year or so, I started looking at some other types of movies from Charles Band’s production company. More specifically, I started checking out some of the offerings from Torchlight which was the spicy wing of Full Moon.

Beach Babes from Beyond was one that I chose to do. So, to kick off Full Moon Fever II: Torchlight Diaries, let’s talk about its sequel, Beach Babes 2: Cave Girl Island!

As with the first entry of this duology, Beach Babes 2 is directed by David DeCoteau under one of his many pseudonyms, Ellen Cabot. Unlike the first entry, this movie doesn’t draw the relatives of famous actors to fill out the cast. No Joe Estevez, no Jackie Stallone, no Don Swayze, no Joey Travolta. There’s not even a Burt Ward or Linnea Quigley. I’m sure that will have no significant effect on the sequel.

Black Christmas (2019)

Uh…  So, how to tiptoe around this…  Um…  Maybe I should just dive right into the deep end for this week’s B-Movie Enema.

First off, let me say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my lovely Enemaniacs!  Next, this week’s movie, 2019’s Black Christmas, garnered a considerable amount of talk last year.  I don’t think I can avoid this talk, so I have to touch upon some touchy subjects.  I don’t doubt that all the people out there in the world who have come across this blog have a varying degree of points of view on social and political topics.  I’d be a real big idiot to think everyone who reads my blog share my exact views.  I suspect the same (maybe not the idiot part) should apply in the other way.  It usually doesn’t turn out all that well when people who go to a website begin making assumptions of what the author or content creator’s opinions on varying topics are.

That said, I do try very very hard to separate the creator from the content.  Unless the content is particularly bad or saying really harmful things, I have to separate that creator from what is produced or I’d drive myself insane.  I feel like we live in a world where this is becoming more and more of an increasing issue.  So, just keep in mind what I’m going to put into this article may or may not jibe with all your personal views, but I don’t think that should be too much of a problem. Action U.S.A. (1989)

Ah…  The good ol’ U.S.ofA.  It’s a sort of cool place, right?  I mean, we are THE country in the world that most people in other countries care more about than their own.  You don’t have to go too far into the rabbit hole of YouTube to find a Canadian guy, British guy, German guy, or a French Canadian guy to see they will release screeds and commentaries about the United States and what’s going on over here.

Then there was the 80s.  If you were around in the 80s, there were a few things that you probably knew:

  1. REAGANOMICS!
  2. COCAINE!
  3. USA! USA! USA!
  4. ACTION!
  5. Fuckin’ Commies trying to take over our country and stuff.

Deadly Prey (1987)

I’m a little surprised it has taken me this long to get to a David A. Prior movie, but here we are!  This week’s B-Movie Enema is going to tackle Deadly Prey from 1987.  There’s lots of interesting elements to talk about here.  But we should start with Prior first.

Prior was born in 1955.  In the early 80s, he made the movie Sledgehammer which has the distinction of being the very first shot-on-video slasher film that was distributed to the masses.  In relatively quick succession, he was making films that would have limited theatrical releases, but had lots of life on cable and in video stores.  Before making this film, he met David Winters (more on him shortly).  Winters would finance a couple of Prior’s movies like Killzone and Killer Workout (both movies I’d very much like to cover here).  After those films, Winters and Prior would form Action International Pictures (AIP) to release two more Prior films shot back-to-back – Mankillers and Deadly Prey.

David Prior often worked with his little brother, Ted Prior.  Ted became pretty well known for being a buff action type star.  Ted had roles in almost every AIP film that David was heavily involved in beyond being a producer.  Interesting note about Ted, he was briefly married to a female bodybuilder who was part of the original cast of American Gladiators (Raye Hollitt aka Zap).
