Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties (1978)

I love Jess Franco.  I do.  He started off in the 60s with films like The Awful Dr. Orloff and The Diabolical Dr. Z, the latter being a film I covered on this blog before.  These were black and white flicks that were beautiful and moody and incredibly artistic in style.  Once the later part of 60s came along, he transitioned into much more erotic fare.  He started doing things like Vampyros Lesbos as well as many full on X-rated type stuff with his muse and second wife Lina Romay.

Guess what…  I love that stuff too.  He’s just got a great flair to his movies that register as both incredibly artistic and deeply sensual.  Of course, the aforementioned The Diabolical Dr. Z is one of the finer films ever covered on this blog as it is incredibly well shot.  He also directed my favorite Ilsa film too – Ilsa, The Wicked Warden.  Now, yeah, you can say that isn’t fair because it wasn’t meant to be part of the series, but I’m counting it goddammit.  He also did one of the worst movies on this blog – Oasis of the Zombies.  I won’t get too hung up on that, though.

No, this week’s new B-Movie Enema will intersect his 70s eroticism with his muse Lina Romay.  This week, I’m watching Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties. Continue reading “Two Female Spies with Flowered Panties (1978)”

Up! (1976)

We’ve come to the end of Russ Meyer Month here at B-Movie Enema.

Over the last several weeks, we’ve gone from Depression-era Missouri farms to a sexually liberated Canadian girl to go-go dancers with an axe to grind to wild Hollywood hippie parties.  So naturally there is only one place left to go…  Nazisploitation.  This week, it’s the 1976 soft-core sex comedy Up!

This is another of the Meyer-Ebert collaborations, much like with last week’s Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.   After that film and its success with audiences and some critics, Meyer tried his hand a couple more times with mainstream films, but both flopped.  He decided he needed to get back to boobs… er basics.  Back to basics.  He swore he’d never stray away from his formula again. Vixen! (1968)

I love how Russ Meyer uses punctuation in his titles.

Welcome back to Russ Meyer Month here at B-Movie Enema.  This week, we’re going to venture into X-rated territory for the 1968 drama-satire-softcore porn exploitation classic Vixen!  We also travel north of the border to Canada for our story as well.

Vixen! might just be considered one of Meyer’s very best (though I have some commentary to add later).  The Los Angeles Times and the New York Times both gave high praise to this film despite its themes and obvious sexploitation nature.  However, again, it’s Roger Ebert who maybe says the best, most heartfelt comments calling this not just the “quintessential Meyer film” but that he also talks about how Meyer creates characters.  We should already be aware with Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and Mudhoney that Meyer likes going over the top for his villains and various other stereotypical characters.  Ebert calls to the front that its Meyer’s talent in doing that that helps put people at ease seeing their first “skin-flick” and allows people to just have a good time – maybe the only thing Russ Meyer really wanted people to have. Felicity (1978)

Oh, and you thought I was done with Severin Films releases that are connected in some way to the French book/movie/character Emmanuelle…

Well, we’re not.  This week’s feature, Felicity, features a young girl, played by the lovely Glory Annen, who is a sheltered Catholic school girl who indulges in erotic novels… as well as a lesbian love affair.  You might remember Annen in another late 70s film in which she was indulging in a lesbian affair that I’ve already covered – Norman J. Warren’s Prey.  In that, she was the kept orphan of her parents’ housekeeper who ran afoul of an alien who was more fox than man.

I find Annen particularly interesting.  If you check out that previous article on Prey, I touch upon her involvement with a man who was possibly involved in some pretty deep criminal shit in the horse racing industry.  Since her death in 2017, her various notes and documents compiled about her relationship with Ivan Allan have begun the editing process to create exposés and a series of books detailing that alleged criminality of Allan.  Continue reading “Felicity (1978)”

Oriental Blue (1975)

Okay.  Admittedly, last week was a bit of a blunder in my Blue March theme month here at B-Movie Enema.  However, can this week’s feature, Oriental Blue, do better?  Can it improve upon the cockamamie doody bullfuck that was The Vixens of Kung Fu?

Well…  I mean it kinda has to right?  Right?  Yes, it is made by the same guy, Bill Milling.  Yes, it’s Asian-themed.  Yes, there seems to be some form of prostitution afoot.  But I can say it is a full 15 minutes longer.  That has to mean something, right?

Right? Continue reading “Oriental Blue (1975)”

The Vixens of Kung Fu (1975)

We’ve got two more weeks for Blue March and you know what we need? A vacation. Let’s head out to the mystical Orient to get some eastern eroticism.

We start by first checking in with The Vixens of Kung Fu.

Gee. I wonder why this one appeals to me. Vixens. Kung Fu. Yup, the math checks out. But it’s not only that, but it also has some sweet, sweet revenge. The movie is about a young prostitute getting brutally assaulted. She runs away and finds a secret group of hot ass kung fu masters. They train her and she gets her revenge all in a real tidy 70-minute package.

Prisoner of Paradise (1980)

Howdy Enemaniacs!  Welcome back to the third feature in this month’s Blue March theme – Prisoner of Paradise!

For this entry, we’re bringing back a couple returning items.  First, big daddy John Holmes is returning after taking a bow (among other things) in Dracula Sucks.  We also travel back into the wild blue yonder of Nazisploitation – and I bet you are all real excited about that.

But, let me just say, you people are sick.   You know how I know this?  I know my blog’s stats.  I know them well, I do.  If I look at the top viewed posts, all FIVE of the movies marked with the “nazisploitation” tag rank in the top 13 posts.  Then, on top of that, Dracula Sucks, the other released adult movie I’ve covered on this blog, also ranks in the top 10.  The most viewed post at the time of this writing?  The Lost Empire which has tits flopping all over the place in it. Dixie Ray Hollywood Star (1983)

Blue March continues with not only another adult film, but an adult film directed by Anthony Spinelli.  Spinelli was kind of known for his work in genres.  Hey, it’s not just a prono, it’s a sci-fi/drama that deals with relationships and kinks and sexual inadequacy.  This isn’t just a skin flick with a really hot redhead, it’s a film noir/crime drama type of movie too!

Dixie Ray Hollywood Star is the latter.  We have a hot, but enigmatic redhead movie star, Dixie Ray, played by Lisa Deleeuw.  She comes into contact (both figuratively and literally) with P.I. Nick Popodopolis, played by superstar adult actor John Leslie, who is caught up in a mystery after finding a dead woman on his floor.

Even better?  This movie has the one, the only, Cameron Mitchell! Continue reading “Dixie Ray Hollywood Star (1983)”
